Ploning is the story of one woman's promise, her hope and love
from the point of view of a young boy.
Present time. Having lived aboard an illegal Taiwanese fishing
vessel for as long as he can remember, 30-plus year old Filipino
Muo Sei (meaning "Moses", son taken out of the water), grew
up to be a man of brokenness, unpredictable temper and solitary
loneliness. Until one morning his boat docks into the shores of
Cuyo, Palawan. His adoptive Taiwanese father risks being caught
and summons him to find "Ploning" before the sun sets, in the
hopes of dealing with his past and changing his ways. No one
knows who or what "Ploning" is to Muo Sei and no one has ever
dared to ask...And so his search begins...
Muo Sei tours the island, observes the people and place as an
outsider, and finally revisits his memories, baring how much
he has been part of Cuyo and the life of a woman named Ploning.
1980's. The past comes to life and 30-year old Ploning is revealed
as the island's enigmatic belle who cared for 7-year old Digo -
short for Rodrigo, Muo Sei's real name - as her own. She is a
woman who the town knows as keeping true to the promise of
waiting for her beau, the young town hero who left for Manila
more than a decade ago. This set her as both exemplary and
rumor magnet. But one thing is common, everyone wants to
marry her off. And Digo discovers Ploning's plan to leave for
Manila. Thus threatened by the sudden prospect of losing
Ploning, Digo devices ways to keep her from leaving and gets
her to make a promise.
Did Ploning choose closure with the man she has been waiting
for half her life or the future of young boy whose life is not her
own?
Old pains of rejection and unanswered questions are relived,
as backdropped by an ironically beautiful milieu and a community
of townspeople who are enamored and affected by the life and
love of Ploning.
In Digo's eyes, Ploning is likewise revealed as a dutiful daughter
to patriarch Susing, a committed supporter to grieving Intang,
an honorary sister to extended family Nieves and Toting a wise
ally to simpleton Alma, a co-mother to half-paralyzed Juaning,
a dear friend to ailing nurse Celeste, an object of desire to
young lad Siloy and a foe to Digo's older brother Veling.
In the end, a secret is revealed to Rodrigo that awakens him
into a love he has forsaken and misunderstood. Thus the healing
that comes from forgiveness springs forth into his hardened
heart.
Will Rodrigo finally choose to accept love or continue to walk
in hate?

| This one maganda ang ilaw at the colors are calmning and sersene....gives the feeling of forever we will see each other again, is the kid suppose to walk on water??? again if I know the plot I could give a better comment regarding the layout and elements....weird lang head ni juday parang giant na nagstick ng head above water, but I like the layout of this most of all!!! |
| Sepia and black and white...hmmm, I can't make out the vignettes between the head of Juday and the lower part of the poster...actually reminded me of the back of a twenty peso bill when I zoomed in...the layout of this one is to me, one sided masyado....but the separation of colors make it difficult to see the poster as a whole, it cuts itself into parts... |

 | Jit, i like poster#1 dahil malamig s'yang tingnan, parang bagay sa istorya ng pelikula, kaya lang hindi dapat tinapyas ang fez na ating kapatid. can you try combining the elements of poster#1 & Poster#2? Parang magandang nakikita ang katawan ni Juday kaysa hanggang leeg lang. The image of the boy is very strong (in a positive way), but parang nabalewala lang sya sa poster #2. Yun lang. Goodluck. Excited na ako mapanood ang pelikulang ito. |
 | This one is working. It's subtle and sedate and the color is apt for the water element - good composition. Kaya lang, baket yung subtitle na may bangka nasa ulap? - the text is fine but I'm not sure about the bangka though... |
 | except for the cropped face, the rest is great. since its a movie poster, it is mean to evoke some form of emotion from an audience in a small span of time. this evokes the most, im borrowing a word, melancholy. a sense of solitary unrest. |

poster 2: maganda ang handbag. magwowork ba kung cool tones gagamitin mo o yung warmth na hinahabol ni charlie? recuerdong recuerdo y ploning!

 | jit, parang mas gusto ko ito tho it does not say much of the kwento (as told here). while the '20 peso' has more kwento, it might just be to gibberish as a movie poster.what's the purpose-- to sell juday or the movie? i guess, the former is more mabenta (not belittling the story, i am actually excited to watch it). so i'll go with this one. nadidisturb lang ako sa proportion ng bagets.. masyadong maliit as compared to juday. parang sya yung hinahanap at di yung naghahanap. and yes, ilubog mo ng konti yung mga paa... at jit, bawas ng konti ang effects sa mukha. :) |

| yung sa 1 kasi, it tends to divert your attention from juday to the kid at parang mas may mystery pa yung kid kaysa kay juday. mas focused kung si juday lang. mas may enigma. |

 | gusto ang contrasting colors. mukhang kinakain lang ng kulay iyong teksto na pag-ibig/pghihintay/pag-asa. mukhang mahalaga sa kwento ang tekstong ito kaya mas oks sana kung mas darker o malinaw na makikita ito sa poster. yung letrang p ng ploning ay nakatutok sa bobbie ni juday hindi ako sigurado kung intensiyonal. baka kasi maiipwesto pa ito ng ibang anggulo as in sa baba ng konti o sa tagiliran ng konti. yung buwan at tuldok ng ploning magandang laruin sa pagpwepwesto ng tekstong ploning. yung laki ng batang naglalakad ay halos makain ng mga bato sa dagat pero napapansin pa rin siya. pero kung mahalaga ang batang ito sa kwento maari siguro na mailarga pa ng malinaw ang batang ito kasi mahusay siyang elemento ng buong kwento. mahusay ang ilaw na nalikha sa mukha ni juday at mapapalakas pa ito sa timpla ng kulay ng kalangitan.
gusto ko ito kasi may nililikhang kwento mismo ang contrasting colors, ang bata, ang bakya na bitbit, ang anggulo ng mukha ni juday, ang malamlam na buwan. galing mo tol. saludo ako. |

sa kabuuan ito ang pangalawang choice ko. Kung hindi malamam ang kul ay, e.g. mas bluish, mas una kung choice ito iadagdag pa ang ilang nabanggit na obserbasyon.
